Atrioventricular Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia in a Patient with Superior- Inferior Ventricles and Dextrocardia Treated with Cryoablation

چکیده
A 19-year-old female underwent repair of complex congenital heart disease (atrial and ventricular septal defect with a supero-inferior ventricular relationship) in infancy. Because of recurrent palpitations she underwent an electrophysiology study. Atypical atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia was diagnosed. Catheter ablation was performed successfully using cryothermal energy. The diagnostic and therapeutic approach is discussed. I n t r o d u c t I o n Symptoms of recurrent tachycardia in patients with repaired congenital heart disease are usually due to intra-atrial reentry or a previously undiagnosed accessory pathway. Atrioventricular (AV) nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) is an uncommon etiology in this context. The location of the AV node may be atypical in these patients. We report a patient with complex congenital heart disease with unusual presentation of AVNRT, who underwent successful treatment with cryoablation.

Successful radiofrequency catheter ablation of atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia in a patient with dextrocardia due to unilateral pulmonary agenesis: a case report
Radiofrequency catheter ablation of the slow pathway is considered to be the treatment of choice for patients with atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia. We report a 34-year-old female with mirror image dextrocardia due to unilateral pulmonary agenesis who underwent successful slow pathway ablation for typical atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia. Using contrast injection, cardia...
متن کاملCryothermal ablation of the slow pathway for the elimination of atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia.
BACKGROUND We report the first successful slow pathway ablation using a novel catheter-based cryothermal technology for the elimination of atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT). METHODS AND RESULTS Eighteen patients with typical AVNRT underwent cryoablation. Reversible loss of slow pathway (SP) conduction during cryothermy (ice mapping) was demonstrated in 11 of 12 patients. Be...

AIMS The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of cryoablation in a large series of patients with typical (slow-fast) atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT). METHODS AND RESULTS Between 2003 and 2007, 312 patients with typical AVNRT--median age of 53 years (range 10-92), 200 women (64%)--underwent cryoablation, using exclusively a 6 mm tip catheter tip. A...
متن کاملCryoablation of an atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia in a patient with an implanted deep brain stimulator
Introduction Atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) is the most frequent paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), with an incidence of 5 cases per 1000 people. Ablation utilizing a radiofrequency current (RFC) energy source is currently the standard treatment. Success rates range between 94% and 100% and complication rates are low, especially with respect to total atrioventr...
متن کاملSafety and efficacy of cryoablation without the use of fluoroscopy.
BACKGROUND Development of electroanatomical systems make it possible to perform ablations without the use of fluoroscopy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of cryoablation procedures without the use of fluoroscopy. METHODS The study group consisted of 45 patients (14 female; age 36 ± 15 years) treated with cryoablation using the EnSite electroanatomical system: 10 ...
